Rules and Regulations:
- There is an annual membership fee that is payable in order to enter items into the Milverton Fair. This does not apply to those 18 years of age or younger.
- All competition will be open to the province, except when otherwise specified in the Prize List. All stock and every article exhibited must be the bona-fide property of the exhibitor. All partnership entries must be genuine. All grain and seeds, roots and vegetables, plants and flowers, dairy produce, provisions, fancy work, etc. must be the property of the exhibitor, the growth and work of the present year and produced on his farm or holding; no person shall be allowed to enter for competition more than one specimen in one section of classes in the Exhibit Building.
- The grain etc. to be exhibited must be entered with the Secretary no later than Friday (first day of show) and all articles for competition in the showroom be placed before 12:00 noon Friday, and to remain until 4:00 p.m. Saturday, and all Livestock to be on the grounds at 9:00 a.m. Saturday, and remain until 5:00 p.m. Exhibitors not complying with these conditions will forfeit the right of competition. The show will run on Daylight Savings Time.
- Diligence will be used, by the officers of the Association to insure the safety of articles sent to the Exhibition and to prevent loss or injury to animals, but the owners themselves must take the risk of exhibiting and should any article be accidentally injured, lost or stolen, the Directors will render any assistance in their power toward its recovery, but will not make any payment to the value thereof, or be otherwise liable.
- All entries are to be made on the entry form in the Prize List, and properly signed by the Exhibitor. Exhibitors will please be careful to state the class and section in which they intend each different article to compete, and sign their names. Entry tags issued by the Secretary must be attached to their respective articles for which they are issued. These entry tags will be opened and name and address will be shown for each article.
- No person shall be allowed in the showroom during the inspection by the Judges except the officers appointed to attend them, a Non-Exhibitor to accompany the Judges in all classes. In the absence of competition in a Section, or if the stock or article exhibited be of inferior quality, the Judges are instructed to award only such premiums as they think the article merits. They will exercise their discretion as to whether they will award first, second, third or any premiums. The Ontario Association of Agricultural Societies Judging Standards book will be in effect.
- No person or persons shall be allowed to interfere with the
Judges' presence under penalty of forfeitingprizes to which they
might otherwise be entitled; and will be promptly excluded from
competition. Judges and Officials are particularly requested to
report any breaching of this rule to the Executive Committee of
the Exhibition, who shall be the sole Judges of whether or not
the parties complained of are guilty.
- The decision of the Judge or Judges shall be final to
awarding of prizes, and no appeal shall be considered in case
of protest. All protests shall be made in writing and shall be
delivered within one hour of the award to the Secretary's Office.
Any Exhibitor or interested Person making such a protest will
be required to deposit a sum of $5.00 and if said protest is not
sustained the said amount shall be retained by the Association.
The President, Vice-president and Secretary shall constitute a
committee to determine such protests.
- It is requested that the Judges of each class sign their books
and hand in their reports to the Secretary's Office as soon as
possible after completing their duties, in order that cases of
error or doubt may be promptly and easily made right.
- Bulls must have a ring or screw attached to their nose to prevent accidents, all other Livestock must be well secured before entering, otherwise they will not be allowed on the Show Grounds.
- No animal or article exhibited shall have about it any prize colours or cards until awards have been made in their respective classes. No member shall be allowed more than 2 entries in any one section of the Cattle and Horse Classes.
- Prize money will be paid by the Treasurer as soon as possible
following the Fair.
- Cheques not cashed by December 31 of the Fair year will not be honoured.
- All donations in money, goods and articles of any kind given to the Society as special prizes shall be considered the property of the Society whether competed for or whether the prize was withheld for any cause whatsoever and such donation or donations to be held by the Society and given as a special prize the following year.
- In special prizes where point system is used, first prize would be 4 points, second prize 3 points, third prize 2 points, fourth prize 1 point: in the event of a tie in points, exhibitors with most first prizes will be the winner.
- If any persons are found guilty of violating any part of the rules they will forfeit their whole prize money.
- In case of rain or weather unfit, the committee reserves the right to withdraw any prize money or postpone the Fair.
- The right to alter, interpret, amend, add to, or cancel any of these rules, or to grant relaxation from them in individual cases is reserved by the Board of Directors. Should dispute or difference arise between any Exhibitor and the Association or its Officers, the dispute or difference shall be referred to the Board of Directors whose decision shall be final.
Responsibility & Liability:
PLEASE NOTE: While the Directors of the Agricultural Society will use every available means to prevent accidents in and about the grounds, it must be distinctly understood that all persons going into or upon the show grounds must personally assume all responsibility of accidents or injury from any cause whatsoever.
Privacy Statement:
Any information collected by the Milverton Agricultural Society regarding members, exhibitors, commercial exhibitors, sponsors, directors and any other persons related directly to the business of the Milverton Agricultural Society and the Milverton Fair, will be used solely for the purposes of promotion of the Milverton Agricultural Society and the Milverton Fair, and for the maintenance of their files and data base. Any member, exhibitor, commercial exhibitor, sponsor or director realizes that, when they agree to take part in the Milverton Agricultural Society and/or the Milverton Fair, their names may be published for these reasons only. None of this information whatsoever will be sold or transferred to any outside party unless legally required.
